President’s Welcome

On behalf of the organising committee and the TPA Executive, I am delighted to welcome you to the 2024 Tasmanian Educational Leaders Conference.

Our conference theme this year is Capturing Hearts & Minds, Shaping Futures and we feel this will call to what is at the core of every leader and educator; that is – the opportunity to engage in provocations, deep learning and conversations leading to something truly special and transformational for the young people in our care. The presenters, structure of the keynote presentations and workshops are being carefully considered to align to the theme of the conference with a focus on ‘extending your learning’, deliberately incorporated into the program so leaders come away with a shift in thinking and professional practice to Shape Futures.

Devonport provides the perfect destination on the bank of the Mersey River and the paranaple Centre will be our base for what we are confident is a program of memorable learning and networking opportunities across the three days. From bush walks to bike tracks, galleries to gin distilleries, we hope you will also take the time to enjoy the beauty, culture and history of the surrounding area and all it can offer off the back of your time on the North West Coast.

There is no better time to continue to grow as courageous and connected leaders by prioritising your own learning and wellbeing – we look forward to seeing you making this investment in your professional learning by registering for the 2024 Tasmanian Educational Leaders Conference.

About the Tasmanian Principals Association

TPA proudly represents principals across primary, secondary, senior secondary and special education sectors, as well as assistant principals and system leaders in the Tasmanian public education system.

As the most recent Australian Principal Occupational Health and Wellbeing Survey single recommendation is for individual principals to  ‘…draw on supports available from Professional Associations’ as a mechanism to support their growth and wellbeing, we encourage you to enjoy and promote the advantages and positive impacts of being a part of a vibrant and innovative professional association like the TPA.

The TPA exists to deliver on its vision to ‘Support connected and empowered educational leaders as an integral part of our public education system’ and a commitment to a mission on being the ‘Professional voice for Tasmanian educational leaders’.

The TPA is recognised by government, Department for Education, Children & Young People, media and the non-government school sector as the balanced and respected voice of Tasmanian government school leaders.
