The 2017 Tasmanian Combined Principals Conference was held at Blundstone Arena, in Bellerive, Tasmania, from 9 to 11 August 2017.

The conference was presented in partnership with the Tasmanian Principals Association, the Catholic Education Office, and Independent Schools Tasmania. It continues the collaboration in professional learning established by the APPA national conference held in Hobart in 2015.

Leading Today For Tomorrow

Welcome to the Leading Today for Tomorrow, a conference for educational leaders.

Tasmanian Combined Principals Conference has the intention of building on that which Tasmania does best – increasing principal networks and developing long term support structures between you and your colleagues. The conference format will specifically enable you to:

  • Participate in structured sessions to meet and share with colleagues
  • Be a part of a homegroup to discuss conference sessions and their applicability to you in your school situation
  • Establish long term support networks

The theme was developed to capture some of the complex dimensions of leadership which can become lost in the day to day urgency of the principalship. We will focus on three themes: leading learning; addressing inequality and; management.

Contemporary education is full of challenge and opportunity.

We were challenged by educators and social leaders Professor Chris Sarra and Professor David Adams. We challenged each other as we identified issues, worked on strategic directions and shared our experiences and pathways in leadership.
